Old English Mastiff Trust Foundation |

Our mission is simple. We are
committed to removing, insofar as we are able, fertile
Mastiffs from the cycles of puppy mills/auctions. We are
committed to recovering discarded and abused Mastiffs when
the same dregs of society (puppy millers) are through with
them. We ARE the caretakers of our breed and we are
committed to helping these Mastiffs in every possible way.
IT IS OUR SACRED TRUST. We guard the Guardians.
Our Vision
OEMTF is dedicated to helping Mastiffs in need. We are
caretakers of the breed. Our vision is, through our
endeavors, to lessen the need for the very services we
provide by removing the Mastiff breed from the cycle of
puppy mill abuse. This is our sacred trust.
The Problem
Many people are peripherally aware that dogs are being
sold at auction. What the public may not comprehend is that
these auction dogs are bred exactly as though they are
livestock, a cash crop, well...except livestock are treated
far better than the dogs. Whereas cattle are bred to live
approximately two years after which time they are
slaughtered for food, these dogs are being sold through pet
stores into loving homes where they are expected to live
long and healthy lives as companion pets. Instead, many of
them turn out to be genetic nightmares. Most people have
heard the stigmatic phrase "puppy mill," but have no real
knowledge, perhaps, of exactly what the phrase means.
For our purposes, on these pages, puppy millers are
breeders who do not care take the Mastiffs they exploit.
This includes the commercial dog industry who sell wholesale
to pet stores and consign Mastiffs to auction. There is
a cottage industry that breeds solely for profit with no
regard for bettering the breed. There is no health testing
of the Mastiffs being bred. There is no effort made to
breed to the standard of perfection for Mastiffs. There is
no qualifying of the people or homes to which the Mastiff
puppies are destined. There is no sales contract to protect
puppies or to return them to the breeder if the home turns
out to be unworkable. The breeders in these cases are not
the sellers, and these breeders have no interest to take
back a Mastiff they bred. Their only goal was to pocket the
money.
Our Mission
OEMTF is committed to removing, insofar as it is
possible, abused, mistreated, discarded, exploited and/or
fertile Mastiffs from the cycles of puppy mills/auctions. We
are committed to helping these Mastiffs in every possible
way.
